windows rdc/terminal services problem?

I'm trying to connect to my other computer from a laptop, and there's a router connected to my other computer, I'm pretty sure the other computer gets the internet directly from the ISP, and I kind of piggyback on that computer via the router, I don't know the specifics, but ask and I will give them, anyway I was following this tutorial : "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSkERuqJHLY&feature=related", "Using Remote Desktop Part Four" and I don't know if I have the same setup as that video so yeah, please help, I don't think my other computer has a wireless connection to the router, I'm pretty sure it connects through cable straight to the ISP I'm still pretty n00b at network configurations, please do help

If the connection is modem->computer->router->laptop, it's not going to work. It has to be modem->router (WAN jack)->(LAN jack)computer. The laptop should be connected wirelessly or to another LAN jack.

If you're connecting from inside, that's all you need. If you're connecting from outside you'll have to go into the router and forward port 3389 to the computer's address (and it has to be a static address on any good router).
