The guy I'm dating thinks I'm fat?
Now, before I begin I realize I have some extra pounds that I'm trying to lose. The guy I'm dating now constantly makes fun of me, calling me names. He calls me piggy, and tells me to oink for him. He gets mad if I don't do it, and then yells at me. He tells me how fat he thinks I am on a daily basis and tells me how he wants me to eat off the floor like a pig. I've put up with it because he's really a nice boy and fun to be around, but sometimes he goes overboard. I asked him if he thought I was so fat why don't you just date a skinny girl? His response: "I love dating fat piggies like you." Now he wants me to wear a pig snout during sex and crawl around. This just sounds very offensive to me, but I really do like him. He is nice otherwise. We've been dating for 3 weeks.
Sorry, my question is should I continue dating him?
I've been in a worse relationship for longer, and honey. You need to get out now!
I've been there, I know. My first wife was the nicest girl you'd ever meet, and she was gorgeous.
She had a laugh that would light up a room, a smile that could part clouds, and eyes that seemed to hold more warmth, and beauty than anything... However she also liked to treat me like I was garbage, and I put up with it.
Every time she would belittle me in front of her family, I'd just laugh it off. Every time she said I was worthless I'd think nothing of it, and every time she'd suggest that she'd be better off with some other guy I would do what ever it took to make her smile again.
I stayed with her over three years, and it nearly killed me. Hell it might as well have, with how dead inside I was.
She destroyed my sense of self worth, cut me off from any support, and basically did anything she wanted.
Now if you're thinking that your situation is not as bad as mine, or that it wouldn't turn out like that, you'd be wrong. Dead wrong.
Our relationship started out mostly like yours. We were madly in love, but she started calling me names, and just generally treating me badly... And I let her, which is a huge mistake.
Once they have a hold, they never stop, and it only gets worse.
Don't let them get away with belittling you, it's alright if it's a bit of friendly jesting, but it can get out of hand quickly.
I'm not saying you have to dump him, but I'd advise doing so if he ever crosses a line.
You should get help however, find a family member, a counselor, a school official, or clergyman... someone you can trust, and tell them all about it.
Don't make the same mistakes I did.
