The conch is authority/political office, looks attractive to have, but less so when you have the responsibility that goes with it, only really enjoyable to the selfish or ignorant.

The Beast, the unknown enemy, useful for propaganda, when you need some fear to bend others to your will and get them to agree to your rules and intrusions. Think "red scare" since the book is published in 1954.

Piggy's Glasses, can be seen as representing science/knowledge/technology. A delicate item, necessary for life, easily broken by those who resort to violence and chaos. Think about how delicate our own existence is, how we rely on water flowing from our taps, electricity on hand, and a thousand other inventions to maintain our easy life styles. The fire created by the glasses shows the dark side of technology, the squandering of resources and the destruction made possible. Easy enough to draw comparisons to the science which on one hand gives us the microwave, then on the other hand gives us polluted rivers and the threat of nuclear war.
