Gerald our Garden Guinea Pig whose old mate Wesley died yesterday.....?

Just need a bit of help viewers... one of my elderly pair of guinea pigs died yesterday leaving Gerald the remaining Guinea on his own.... Gerald lives in the garden free as a bird with two very affable rabbits called Ron and Twinkle... my question here is... should I just leave things be and let Gerald settle down with the two rabbits he is already friendly with (never any fighting over food or anything) or should I get him some company of his own kind. My worry is that I am nervous about getting another guinea as Gerald is so old and the new piggy might boss him, also am I going to have to do all this again when Gerald goes off to the Dreamtime to find his old friend Wesley who died yesterday...

I would say - no do not introduce another per now.

Not only would it have to fit in with Gerald but also the rabbits.

Any friction etc would only make thier situaution worse , and as you say lead to more replcemnets later.

Animals do take time to adjust to loss - just as humans do but I guess you are aware of that as you ask the question.

If you just had the one animal then a replacement may be a good idea -
